Members in Antrim, Armagh, Derry, Down, Fermanagh and Tyrone can apply for vetting on Foireann.
This is a guide on submitting a voluntary and paid vetting application for yourself or your child.

How to submit a Volunteer Access NI vetting application
Note: you should only apply for this type of vetting if you are in a voluntary position |
Log into your Foireann account and go to 'Profile' on the left-side navigation menu.
Click on the 'Qualifications & Vetting' tab in the Profile section.
You will see two options - 'Apply to be Garda Vetted' and 'Apply to be Access NI Vetted', for help on submitting a Garda Vetting application see - Submitting a vetting application for yourself or on behalf of a child
Before starting your Access NI vetting on Foireann, you must fill in your Access NI Enhanced Disclosure Application via your NI Direct Account, you will then be provided with your 10-digit Access NI reference number which you will need to proceed with your application on Foireann. For more information on this see - https://ulster.gaa.ie/safeguarding/access-ni/ or apply for your 10-digit reference number on the Access NI website
Once you have your 10-digit Access NI reference number click on the 'Apply to be Access NI Vetted' button.
Select 'Apply to be Access NI Vetted (Volunteer)'.
Start your application by entering your 10-digit Access NI reference number.
This number should start with 200 e.g. 2009999999
Please ensure the details on your Foireann profile are correct and reflect your name as per your legal documents i.e. name, address, and date of birth. If details are incorrect click on 'your profile' to go back to your profile screen to make edits.
Select the club and association you want to be vetted for.
Note: the club dropdown is based on the clubs listed on your Foireann profile, if your club is not appearing in the dropdown make sure it is added to your profile. |
Select the two checkboxes and click on the 'Next: Upload your Documents' button.
Note: if you selected 'Yes' for any reason you are aware of that would prevent you from working with children or vulnerable groups, you will not be permitted to continue with your application, please contact the Ulster GAA Safeguarding Manager at accessni.ulster@gaa.ie |
You can now upload your documentation for your vetting application. You must upload three forms of documentation one from Group 1 and two from 2a or 2b, with at least one document showing your current address. If this isn't possible you will need to upload four documents from Group 2a and 2b.
Note: For more information on acceptable documentation see - Identity Validation or click 'here' above the 'Upload ID Validation Form'. |
When you are ready to upload your documentation click on the 'Upload ID Validation Form' button.
Upload at least 3 files.
Note: Only files in a jpg, jpeg, png or pdf are acceptable. Files cannot exceed the 5MB size limit |
Once you have uploaded your files and pressed the 'Submit' button, click 'Submit Vetting Application'.
Your application has now been submitted and is 'In Review' by your club's vetting admin (CCO). Please note that your application will then be processed by Ulster GAA, who will be in touch with you via email in due course. When your vetting application has been accepted, you and your club secretary will receive email confirmation of this and your Foireann account will be updated accordingly. How to submit a Paid Access NI vetting application
Note: If you are currently working in a position within the GAA, and are receiving payment for this position, you need to complete an Access NI Paid Enhanced Disclosure Application, and Ulster GAA will be in touch with you about payment for the same. If you also work as a volunteer within the GAA, you will also need to complete your Access NI Voluntary Application. |
Log into your Foireann account and go to 'Profile' on the left-side navigation menu.

How to submit an Access NI vetting application on behalf of your child (aged 16+)
Note: no one under 18 should have a Foireann account. A parent/guardian must create their own account and set up a Family on Foireann to add in the details of anyone under 18 |
Log into your Foireann account and go to 'Family' on the left-side navigation menu.
Click 'View' to view your child's profile.
Once in the child's profile go to the 'Qualifications & Vetting' tab.
Click 'Apply to be Access NI Vetted'.
Select the type of Access NI vetting application. If your child is in a voluntary position select the Volunteer option, if they are in a paid position, select the Paid option.
Start your application by entering your 10-digit Access NI reference number.
This number should start with 200 e.g. 2009999999
