Overview
This article is a guide for club administrators on how they can refund a single online membership payment back to a member of their club via Foireann. Please note, that you must have Club Admin and Finance Admin permissions on your Foireann account to follow the steps below.
Refunds can only be processed by a club administrator if:
- The membership has been paid online via Foireann.
- The membership is a single online payment, not part of an instalment subscription.
- The Association fees have not been paid for this membership (applies to LGFA, Camogie and Handball memberships). If the fees have been paid please contact to request the association fees be refunded to the club

How to refund a single online membership payment
1. Log into your Foireann account and go to 'Membership'
2. Search for the member who has requested the refund
3. Click on the membership chip you want to refund. Alternatively, you can click on the members' name to access their profile and then go to 'Membership History'
Note: if you only want to revoke the membership without issuing a refund, click the 'Revoke' button. For more information on membership upgrades see How to upgrade a membership |
4. The membership details will appear. Make sure the 'Payment Method' = 'Online Payment'. Click the 'Issue Refund' button

5. A confirm screen will appear covering the Stripe transaction fees. Click the 'Confirm' button.
Note: Refunding an online payment linked to a membership will revoke all memberships on the order. This means that if more than one member is listed in the membership, then all memberships are revoked as they are linked to one payment. |
6. The member will be emailed that their membership has been refunded and revoked. Below is an example of the email.
7. You can keep track of refunds by going to 'Administration' - 'Payment History'.
How to refund membership payment paid by an instalment plan
Please contact the Foireann Support Team and provide the following information for the person who needs a refund -
- The name of the member(s)
- If refunds are required (including how much is to be refunded)
- If possible, the receipt number of the payment
