    Hi John ,

See reply I got from support when I enquired.

I think its a bit too early to have closed down 2023 considering camogie and lgfa membership run to 31/3

    James

"Thank you for contacting the Foireann Support Team and thank you for your patience.

The Bulk Upload feature is based on the current season, this means it cannot be turned on until the 1st of January 2024, as we do not want to confuse any clubs and have them incorrectly register members since 2024 membership options can now be created on Foireann.

Bulk upload is only required when you are registering a large number of new members on Foireann i.e. adding someone to your members list who was not on it last season.

Last year a new '1-Click Registration' feature was introduced as an alternative to bulk upload, as a way of registering multiple members at a time

You can read more information about the 1-Click Registration & Guided Registration on the Foireann Help Centre or by clicking the link to the article - 1-Click & Guided Registration

I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you and your club.

    Kind Regards,
    The Foireann Support Team"

I don't think 2023 registrations are closed down Seamus.  At least they aren't for GAA clubs, since our club had a new registration for 2023 just this weekend.

I suppose the point is that at this stage of the year, it would be so unlikely that a club would be registering a large number of new members - so unlikely that the value of having the bulk upload for such rare cases is outweighed by the risk of its accidental misuse.

Now perhaps there's a use-case of which I am ignorant.  As registrar of our club, I am a little spoiled with ease, as Foireann is the only system we use.  I.e. our members (or their parents/guardians) use Foireann directly.  We don't use a 3rd party online registration system or offline spreadsheets, which would burden us with having to reconcile things with Foireann.

We register our academy members and we had a new wave of joiners till the end of the year and i had to do all manually. We don't use foireann for members to register so i have to transfer details

One click may work to when they have profile on foireann but it's a pain to add a new member, or lots of them

Let the users device if they want to use the feature rather than taking it away

Bulk Import option still not available for 2024 membership

Any idea when it will be available again?

Just to put a cautious aspect to this.

You have cases for example where a GAA football club, has very large numbers of members (and parents/guardians) overlapping with a separate Hurling club, a separate Camogie club, and a separate LGFA club.  So registrars have the power to overwrite the profile and family data of members of other clubs.  I'm fine with that.  But them having the power to do so in bulk is risky.  We already have small accidents (I can testify to plenty of cases) - an accident with bulk can be a much bigger accident.

I would be fine with a bulk-import limited to entirely new members.

John, BTW, I appreciate what you are trying to do.  Prior to 2021, our club also used a 3rd party system for members to register themselves or their children, and I had the pain of transferring that data of new members into the old GAA Servasport system each year.

When Foireann came out in 2021 - a for-purpose system developed specifically for our needs by our national sports body -  we bit the bullet.  We dropped our 3rd party registration system, and we got our members (or their parents/guardians) to use Foireann directly - we asked them to re-enter all their data, and the grumbles were overcome when we assured them they'd only have to do it once.

I'm not in the situation you are in with your club, and I know full well that switching is very painful in the year you'd do it (and more so the more you are hooked into your existing 3rd party system).  But in the long run it might be worth considering at some stage (perhaps too late for you for 2024).

(end of my Foireann sales-pitch now .....)
