Players not yet 18 registering for senior team

  • Niall Lucey

As they are not 18 prior to January 1st, they are "youth players" per GAA rules, and their parents/guardians should so register them.

Such youth players are entitled to play for adult teams, subject to GAA rules and local by-laws.  Consequently I'd be amazed if they were not covered by the injury scheme (but don't take my word for that).  Certainly this is how it works in my club, and we have no concern in that regard.

Thanks, Niall. We pretty much have the same understanding then - as we are following the same path: players included in family memberships.
