Players not yet 18 registering for senior team
Our senior membership options only allow players aged 18 or over to register.
However, a player aged 17 or over can play senior football and hurling in our county.
We are currently registering these players in family memberships (as they cannot use the senior membership options). We get an error saying 'Adult membership cannot be given to someone under 18'.
My question is, are these players covered from the injury fund perspective as senior players for 2024, even though their membership will state 'Youth player'?

As they are not 18 prior to January 1st, they are "youth players" per GAA rules, and their parents/guardians should so register them.
Such youth players are entitled to play for adult teams, subject to GAA rules and local by-laws. Consequently I'd be amazed if they were not covered by the injury scheme (but don't take my word for that). Certainly this is how it works in my club, and we have no concern in that regard.1 -
Thanks, Niall. We pretty much have the same understanding then - as we are following the same path: players included in family memberships.
