Parent registered instead of child
What do you do if a parent registered instead of their child. The mistake was not picked up by the registrar of the club when processing the payments and the payment has been processed to the county board? Can the money be refunded by the county board and we register the child?
Thank you.

Hi Patriciasmyth
This must be LGFA or Camogie. I am registrar of a GAA club, where the payment to the county board is done outside of Foireann. So here's what I do in the following situation - but whether or not it would work in your case I don't know.
Situation: I find that a profile with a parent name and details, holding an account, but registered as a youth player. This can happen in a number of ways.
Solution (with the parent's express consent to every step, and their assistance in some steps):- Get the parent to create a new Foireann account, fill in their new profile with their own details, add the club to their profile, create a family, add their child to that family, and fill in the child's profile there.
- Then I change the old parent profile so that the name and DOB are that of the child (matching the new child profile that the parent has created).
- Then I merge the old profile (which I have changed) to the new child profile, with the new profile as PRIMARY. This has the effect of transferring the registration to the new child profile, deleting the old profile, and disabling the old parent account.
Again, I only know that this works for a GAA club - I am not sure if it works for other associations.
I hope you get it resolved somehow,

Thank you so much for your help.

Hi again Patriciasmyth.
Just another piece of info which you might find helpful. You write "The mistake was not picked up by the registrar of the club when processing the payments". We've had a few cases where we have found a parent to be registered as a youth player. And what happened in those cases was that the parent had entered the child's details and registered them (and so the registrar - me - found that it was OK). Then later, the parent changed the name and date of birth on the child's profile to be that of themselves, and in some cases they change it to be the name and DOB of another child!!! Foireann does not provide an admin with a log of changes made to member's profiles (this would be a marvellous feature), so it is extremely difficult for a registrar to spot this kind of activity. Now, I don't know if this is what happened in the case you encountered in your club. But it could have been.
