Collecting Match-Ticket Requests using Foireann
With so many Munster Hurling Championship matches involving ticket allocations via clubs, it's becoming an enormous effort in clubs to simply gather the large number of ticket-requests from members, and then to validate the requests to weed out from the draw duplicates (including parents both asking for the same children), people who are not registered members, and even impersonators (as we have had in the past).
We have stumbled on a way to overcome all of this by using Foireann to collect the ticket requests. We set up two distribution groups in Foireann which people associated with the club in Foireann can add themselves to, we give them the links, and then just before we draw we CSV export the members of those distribution groups who are registered members (filtering on the members page). And hey presto we have our valid set of ticket applicants.
We have successfully used the procedure twice now. The first time we received two calls by people who were confused (because they had not read the email completely). The second time we received no enquiry. And we received loads of ticket requests - no reduction in that. Plus we picked up extra member registrations from people who otherwise would not have registered.
Perhaps the best way to show you how it works is to show you the email we send to our members. I have redacted some to keep the name of the club confidential (I don't mind it being known, but perhaps some others might mind).
