Indicate in Official Teamsheet that a player is not Registered
I had opened a ticket to request this and received a positive acknowledgement. However, now that I see this forum, it may be useful to other Foireann users to see that the feature has been requested so that the Foireann team is not burdened by duplicate feature requests from multiple members.
Many registrars (certainly me) find it a continual struggle to impress on coaches/mentors the criticality (liability, injury scheme, competition eligibility) of ensuring that unregistered players are not permitted to train on club grounds or play in matches representing the club.
Many of those same coaches however, find the Foireann teamsheet download (for printing) to be very convenient.
What would be of great assistance to adding motivation to such coaches would be if the Foireann Teamsheet download were add in bold text something like "⚠ NOT REGISTERED" alongside any player who is not registered for the club for the current calendar year.
It's not enough to check if the player is registered with ANY club, since there are a lot of cases of single code clubs (e.g. my club) where a payer might be registered with another club for hurling, and playing with our club for football. So even if the player is registered with the other club, I need our football club teamsheet which our coaches download from Foireann to indicate "⚠ NOT REGISTERED" for that player if the player is not registered with our club.
Perhaps there are some exceptional cases (of which I am unaware) where a player does not have to be registered with the unit they are representing in a match - then in that case there should be no problem with the "⚠ NOT REGISTERED" indication in the printed teamsheet since the ref and opposition will be aware of the exception in respect of that unit.
This change (which on the face of it appears to be a simple one - but perhaps not?) would be of enormous assistance to us registrars in our constant nagging within our clubs for compliance to registration.

As club registrar I agree 100% with this request. Making registration (or lack of) a visible thing for coaches and managers would go a long way towards achieving compliance without the constant nagging and chasing.

I agree. This would be a great feature.

Dear Registrar Four Masters Donegal.
They've added the feature some time ago. It is a great feature. It may work perfectly for your club. It's implementation is problematic for our club because we are a football-only club and many of our players also register with a neighboring hurling club, and the warning indication is not on the teamsheet for a player who is not registered with us, but IS registered with the neighbours.1 -
Niall, this is a serious problem for our club also. We are a Hurling only club and our players are appearing as paid on the Teamsheet when they aren't. They are paid with their local Gaelic football club. It's a nightmare for our Team admins as it appears like players are paid (& hence insured) when they are not.
I logged it as a bug with Foireann last year but have received absolutely no response.

Agreed Richard. It is indeed an issue.
I advise our coaches about it, and that they should view the team online and hover over every green chip to make sure it is our club. But of course coaches forget - it's only natural.0 -
Richard, Joe, Four Masters Registrar, et al. - and indeed Foireann folks considering addressing this need:
I just realized what is probably the logic for omitting the the warning symbol in such a case.
Under rule 6.7 (1) (b) a player can be playing on permission with a club even when only a registered player with another club only. Since Foireann does not have a means to record the details of such a permission, and they wanted to avoid the not-registered warning symbol on the teamsheet in such a case, they likely decided that the check for the warning or not should be that the player is registered with any GAA club.
I'm speculating of course that this is the reason. I bet it is though.
So therefore the simplest solution which would address our need here, and not at the same time mess up the case of the player playing on permission, would be that where a player on the teamsheet is not a registered member of the club, but is a registered player of another club, then a different symbol (or text) would be there to signify this unique situation.
Regards,
Niall.0
