Harvesting email addresses of parents

The CSV file that is downloaded when you select "Export Detailed Member Info" has columns for the email addresses of parent/guardians.  Of course you will also have to then search other rows in the CSV for those parent/guardians to see if they themselves have a profile associated with the club and have consented to receiving the kind of communication you are considering putting in your email to them (e.g. there are plenty cases where one parent has consented to things that another hasn't, and so this impacts how you communicate with each).

I suppose in time it may be possible to send such emails from Foireann itself and avoid these steps (I'm just speculating - I am just a club registrar).

Perfect @Niall that will do the trick.

    Thanks, John

@John the parent/guardian names in the row for a child do not have (apart from names) unique identifiers for parents/guardians (would be nice) to enable you to lookup the row for the parent and check their consent details.  But, you could do what I did programmatically in a similar case if you have the skills, i.e. search for other rows with the same email address and if one of those has consent for communications then I suppose it is reasonable to conclude there is consent.

@Niall the CSV doesn't have a column containing communication consent info (at least I can't seem to find it). So I first filter based on communication consent and then "Export Detailed Member Info" so that I know everyone in the CSV has given consent. From there I filter the Memberships column so as to just list "LGFA Youth Player Association fees pending" and "LGFA Youth Player Registered". I then add a new column which has a formula that gets email value if it exists, otherwise gets the guardian 1 email address and, if it exists, also the guardian 2 email address. Thanks for all your help and advice.

Oh, you are right @John - I had forgotten about that (another of my peeves).  I forgot that I got around that by downloading separate CSVs with the set of members who consent to this that or the other, and then I correlate with another CSV which has the details for the child.  I do that since the consent of one of the parents/guardians may be different, and different than that in the child's profile.

And yeah, I had a complex formula too, somewhat similar to what you describe.  I used it for texting - we don't (as of yet anyway) email our club members (tho that may happen at some stage in future too).

It'll be nice when these things are natively in Foireann - albeit I am nitpicking - overall I think the product is absolutely fantastic.
