FAQs
1. How do I know which of my players have been covered or not by a Player Injury Fund invoice?
Clubs can view their invoices at any stage to see who is covered. It is possible to download the list of members for an invoice, for more information on how to do this, please see HERE
2. A player is registered as a playing member of a club, but also plays on an independent team \ district team \ county panel. Do the fees paid under the club cover him to play under the other respective units?
Yes, it does, once the player has noted the independent team, district team, or county panel on their Foireann profile. If a player is injured playing with the independent team, for example, the claim is registered against the independent team.
3. A player plays football with his home club but plays hurling with another club, and vice versa. How does this affect Injury Benefit Fund cover?
The player should be registered with Foireann as a playing member of their home club, and the Injury Fund fee will be charged to the home club. Under the player’s Foireann profile, the hurling club should be noted, and this will cover the player playing hurling. If the player is injured playing football, the claim goes against the football club; if the player is injured playing hurling, the claim goes against the hurling club.
It is up to the clubs to decide who pays for a dual player's injury cover. If there is no agreement and both clubs pay for the player's cover, there will be no refund.
4. I have more players who need to be covered under the Injury Fund, but I have already paid the club invoice.
Clubs can generate as many invoices as they like to cover their players under the Injury Fund. Each new invoice will only include players who have not yet been covered in a previous invoice.
5. Are referees, coaches, team managers, umpires, and members of the team management covered under the GAA Injury Benefit Fund?
Yes, they are, but there is no charge for cover. The individuals will still be covered under the Fund once they are registered on Foireann as non-playing members and are tagged as match officials \ coaches. If the person is a player and also coaches, referees, etc., a fee will be charged for cover based on their full playing member registration.
6. Are referees, coaches, team managers, umpires, and members of the team management able to make an injury claim via Foireann?
No, if an individual is injured coaching or refereeing, he or she won’t be able to submit the claim via Foireann based on a non-playing membership. The injured person needs to email ciara.clarke@gaa.ie to make a claim.
7. Some of our members are registered as non-playing; how do I upgrade them to playing to be covered in the invoice?
Club admins can upgrade a member from non-playing to playing by following the steps outlined in the link below:

8. Our club registered and paid for players twice or our club paid for a playing member who should have been recorded as a non-playing member, will the club be entitled to a refund?

9. Our club registered a player as a non-playing member who has sustained an injury and has now been upgraded to a playing member after the injury date, will he be able to claim based on his original nonplaying registration date?
No. Foireann memberships cannot be backdated. The player must be on Foireann as a paid playing member on the injury date to be eligible to be covered under the Fund and claim accordingly.
10. Our club failed to register and pay Injury Fund cover for a playing member who has sustained an injury and is looking to make a claim. Will the club be able to appeal this case?
No appeals will be considered. It is each unit’s responsibility to check that all playing members are registered on Foireann. The player must be a registered playing member on Foireann on the date of injury to be covered under the Fund.
