What is this grant for?
This grant is designed to support GAA Units that are experiencing rising energy costs. The grant is intended to help teams reduce their energy usage and costs while still catering for the needs of their communities.
Who is eligible to apply for the grant?
Any GAA Unit that is experiencing rising energy costs and has the supporting evidence required to support its claim is eligible to apply for the grant.
What types of energy costs does the grant cover?
The grant covers a wide range of energy costs, including electricity, gas, and oil.
How much funding can be received from the grant?
The amount of funding available varies depending on the level of usage and the increase in cost over the 2 periods (winter 2019/20 and winter 2022/23).
How do I apply for the grant?
To apply for the grant, you will need to complete the application form of Foireann. You will need to provide information about your Club's facilities, energy usage, and costs.
Where in Foireann can I apply for the grant?
For anyone who is a Club Admin, this will appear on your home screen when you log into Foireann. Look for the Club Energy Support Scheme tile.
September to Mar is 7 months, why are we being asked for 6-month bills during a 7-month period?
Most energy companies bill bi-monthly. By allowing some flexibility, Clubs can claim for the 6-month period September to February or October to March, depending on the months their energy suppliers issue the bills.
When is the deadline for submitting an application?
The deadline for submitting an application is Friday the 19th of May.
What if I am missing a bill for a period where the evidence is required
Please provide a screenshot of the bank statement for that period showing the funds being paid to the energy supplier.
How long does it take to receive funding?
It is expected to have funds paid out to those who claim the grant by the end of June 2023.
What happens if my grant application is unsuccessful?
If your grant application is unsuccessful, you may be able to reapply for funding if prompted to do so, this may be due to the Club attaching an incorrect document. Alternatively, you may want to explore other sources of funding or energy-saving measures that can help you reduce your energy costs.
Our Club uses facilities owned by a Community Group. The Community Group then charge the Club a fee towards the cost of the facility, can we still apply?
Yes, you can attach copies of the energy bills and attach the recharge from the Community Group when prompted to "Upload Evidence".
Who can I contact if I have further questions?
If you have further questions about the grant application process, you can contact a member of the GAA National Finance Dept at nationalfinance@gaa.ie or if you have technical issues relating to the use of Foireann, contact the Foireann Help desk via the in-app Contact Form.
